One win away!

One win away from going to states! Kyle tech'd his first opponent 16-1 in the 2nd period and then had the showdown against the 6th rated wrestler in the state according to the Brakeman report - Joe Crabtree of Hilliard Darby. An absolute must win if he is to meet his goal of going to states. The first period started well, Kyle got a takedown and then let Joe go. Score 2-1 after the 1st period. Kyle had the choice for the 2nd period and deferred, Joe chose down and got an escape. At the very end of the 2nd period after a wild scramble, Joe got a takedown and went up 4-2. I was worried. He rode Kyle for the first minute before Kyle got an escape. Score 4-3. Kyle gets a take down with 38 seconds to go! They go out of bounds. Restart in the middle, Kyle rides him out in a wild scramble and the refs call stalemate. They restart. Kyle rides him out of bounds, only 15 seconds or so to go in the match. They restart. Kyle puts the legs in and they stand up with Kyle attached to him like a crab (pun intended). Joe gets frustrated and tries to hurt Kyle by launching himself backwards and landing with all of his weight directly on Kyle! Refs award Kyle a penalty point. Score 6-4. 8 seconds to go, restart and a mad scramble, Joe earns a one point escape but not enough - Kyle wins it 7-6. Here are some comments by others about Crabtree's cheap shot:

raiderfutbol:
Also anyone who watched both of Joe Crabtree's matches care to disagree that he is at the very least a poor sport and at worst a cheapshot and dirty wrestler. Or at least he was tonight.

BOBLETT: raiderfutbol................enlighten us. I was there but must of missed the Crabtree match. Explain the cheapshot.

raiderfutbol: Both of his matches. 1st one he attacks, clearly after the whistle and after his opponent has let up. Picks him up with a double leg then just drops him on his head. Several other times during that match he's giving the extra shove out of bounds, and then after the match ends with him holding a single leg but not yet finishing it, his opponent is dragged at least 5 ft. across the mat. This is after the match had ended. 2nd match: he is losing 5-4 with maybe 10-15 seconds left. he is clearly getting frustrated by not being able to escape, he stands up while his opponent has one boot in and literally jumps in the air and backwards landing his entire weight on the kid. Illegal? don't know, don't care. Dirty and trying to hurt Frost? IMO definitely. As I said this is only my opinion which I am entitled to.

Sports_daddy: Raider- on the Crabtree -Frost match I agree about the tactics. However, Frost got a freebie on the escape in the third period that tied the match. To his credit he finished strong, and yes, Crabtree pulled a dirty stunt on the backward slam on Frost.

Frost looks healthy and on stride.

kevinthomas_1: Frost just looked like he wanted it more the whole match.
Crabtree had several cheap shots today!!
(Kevin - is this you???)

jimdoggins: IMO, Raiderfutbol you are right, crabtree wrestled dirty all day and his sportsmanship was dispicable to say the least. Glad to hear Frost was fortunate enough to come out of that cheap shot unscathed. Good luck to all in these next rounds as you fight for a shot to wrestle at the schott.

I'll try to post the controversial cheap shot later.
