To answer Tanner question, yes I'm still in the area. I control the full Bronx, muahahhahah!

Elder Kennedy and I are trying hard to find more deaf people. The result is not showing our efforts but we are determine to endure. Since nothing much had happen, I decided to explained more about the area and the elders in my district.

First, Elder Kennedy.
He was born 100% deaf (doctors think it was a genetic defect in his ears, possibly have no cilia). At that time, his dad was a inactive member and his mom hasn't join the church yet and they already have two older children, a daughter and a son. When he was born, the doctor declare him healthy so they took him home. One day, the bro and sis was fighting, making a ruckus. The mom quickly shushed them because she feared they had woken up the baby. When she saw Elder Kennedy was still sleeping, she was nervous and took him to the doctor. The doctor found out he was deaf. The mom became very frighten and quickly drove back home without E.Kennedy! A few hours later, the dad came home, excited to see his new son. He could not find him and ask the mom where the baby. Realizing they left the baby in the hospital, they quickly drove back and pick him up. Together, they learn sign language and somewhere along the way, the sisters missionaries taught them. Elder Kennedy told me the reason why his mom join the church because the sisters used him to connect to the Plan of Salvation, telling the mom it all part of god's plan. That apparently touched the mom's heart and she joined the church. The dad became active and few years later, they were sealed for all time and eternity. His older brother serve the ASL mission here in New York city North! (His older brother sign name is just a "k" waving. Elder kennedy sign name is "k-2"). How cool is that, two brothers serving in a same mission, his older brother served from 2005 to 2007. Elder Kennedy told me he don't want New York City at first because he don't want to be involved with the same people that his brother work with. I can understand and now he don't mind, he's enjoying NYC quite a bit. Especially when we recently enter Madison Square Garden, he is quite happy. He's pretty cool and very funny. I can't ask for a better companion.

His family had moved many times, I think he said he moved 17 times! The reason is because his dad is a trucker and he joined with Company that pay him better. As such, he is a little bit shy but once you get to know him, he's a good man.

Elder Evanson
Sorry, I hate to stereotype him but he is a Utah boy. Don't misunderstand, he is a good elder but when you hear of missionaries coming from Utah, you started to wonder if there are mormons outside of Utah. He's fairly new but he has a sharp mind and know quite a lot of doctrine. Don't bible bash him, he only need to use one scripture verse to shut you up. :-) Don't worry, he avoid bible bashing whenever he can. It all part of Charity.

Those are the elders in my district now. Elder Kennedy get a lot of attention because I'm with him 24/7.

Now for the Bronx. The bronx itself is a melting pot. Did you know when you say the name, it have to included "the" bronx. You can't just say Bronx, that blasphemy! In one area, you have the jewish people and white people. In another area, it full of domicain Republic people, in another area, nothing but black people. Most of the bronx are mixed. The southern portion of the bronx is the most dangerous and the most ghetto. There is one area called "The Hub," on 143rd st and 3rd ave, itself are touted as the most dangerous area in NYC. The reason because there are many projects in that area (and not conciedentally, has a lot of deaf people). During the summer, especially at night, we avoid it whenever we can. The northen part of the Bronx is more safe (and that where most of the stores are). I have not had a opportunity to tried out most of its local ethnic foods because they are expensive, but some are quite good. Did you know you can cook chicken hearts same as making chicken wings and eat it? It's quite good! Just a little bit more harder to chew but taste just like chicken ;-)
that something you can do for fun! There are many religions churches: muslim, 7th day adventist, baptist, Jehovah Witness, non-denomination, etc. Most of the people here label themselve as Christian. Most are willing to stop and listen to our messages but are unwilling to leave their comfort zone of having to travel a bit to the church when their church is just a walking distance away. We only have two church building in the Bronx, the famous one is on Kingsbridge road intersect Grand Concourse. It's famous because it right next to the major shopping street in the bronx, Fordham Road. Quite a lot of people see it, some even label it as The Mormon Temple but we quickly fix that up by showing them a picture of the SLC temple. We are proud of that! The other one is in east bronx on Olmstead ave. The people here is generally the same in the Columbus city, just a lot more here. It a lot of fun here in the Bronx because we get to see a lot of wierd things and of course, take a pictures of it!
